Mrs. McClurkin holds a B.A. in Biological Science from Sterling College and an M.A. in American History from Florida State University where she was in a Ph.D. program in Humanities as an NDEA scholar. Having taught history on the college level, she took her MIA Montessori training in Kansas City in 1971. Mrs. McClurkin has directed MPS since 1971 and teacher preparation courses since 1973. In 1997-98 Mrs. McClurkin took the AMS Birth-Three courses in Seattle, WA. Mrs. McClurkin is a former Montessori Institute of America (MIA) president.
Mrs. Sharron Reece directed and taught at Montessori Plus School in Renton for more than 10 years. Mrs. Reece holds a BA in art from Washburn University. She has been teaching full-time at MTP of Washington/International since 2003.
Mrs. Reece recalls, “Twenty years ago, I came into Montessori education through my own daughter when she was only a toddler. I watched her learn and develop toward her potential through the elementary Montessori years. Now I truly enjoy training adults from all over the world in the practical life and language materials. Having my BA in art, I enjoy helping new teachers learn of the joy of abstract art.”

The past several years of my experiences and ongoing study in ECE field, teaching young children and training teachers in Montessori and various ECE programs will strengthen my accountability to support the future EC Educators, for now, especially who are eager to become a qualified EC Montessori educator through MTP of WA.
Yoon Mi Kim Instructor
Yoon Mi Kim was born in South Korea and is married to her wonderful husband, Dong Ik. Together, they have four beautiful children who were all educated in the Montessori Classroom. The eldest was only 2 ½ years old when she was enrolled in to the Montessori Preschool and ever since Yoon Mi has been a part of the Montessori world ever since. In 1997, her and her family immigrated to the United States and she decided to become a Montessori teacher after she was inspired by the children’s unique abilities to learn. By observing her own children as well as her students, Yoon Mi has experienced first-hand the effectiveness of the Montessori education philosophy and strives to help students reach their potential in and out of the classroom.
