What makes MTP training special?

Montessori Teacher Preparation of Washington is a Non-profit and also a Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) certified school.

Only SEVP-certified schools can issue Forms I-20 “Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status.    Since 1973 Montessori Teacher Preparation of Washington has successfully prepared thousands of students from all over the world to become Montessori teachers.

Our onsite EC (2 1/2-6yrs) program is MACTE accredited since 1996.

Upon successful completion of the academic course and a nine month period of internship, the teacher candidate may apply for certification from the International Association of Progressive Montessori, our national organization. MTP of WA onsite course in Kent, WA, holds accredited status by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE).

Persons of all faiths, races, nationalities and creeds are welcomed equally to the MTP of WA course. Montessori teaching candidates must have at least two years of college education, or two years’ experience working daily with young children in a classroom, or a combination of the two.

Mrs. McClurkin reminds prospective students that becoming “a Montessori teacher demands a change of life’s values, and such a change does not come by reading other people’s printed manuals.”
